The year 2006 was a year of remarkable achievements for the GDD. The GDD's industrial output surged by 24.7 percent to reach 200.38 billion yuan ($25.69 billion), while GDP was estimated to have grown 20 percent. Government revenue rose by 20.17 percent to 18.8 billion yuan ($2.41 billion), with contractual foreign direct investment (FDI) up 35.39 percent to $1.833 billion and actually utilized FDI rising 16.36 percent to $792 million.
